The Hall of Virgin Marys - Santuario de Torreciudad - Aragon, Spain

the many faces of the virgin mary

I had the very fortunate opportunity to visit the Shrine in Torreciudad which is run by the Opus Dei. It was really wonderful experience visiting what they call a "modern" cathedral. Right below the Shrine is a big long hallway with small room over to each side that held over 400 virgin mary statues from around the world. People from just about every country sent in the various statues and they assembled all together in one place. It was truly fascinating to run from table to table say "Hey look at this one" or "Isn't this one just plain different". It kinda changes your typical view of how the Virgin Mary is depicted when you see how all these places see her. The above picture is one I took and really liked. It's done in selective color, and I think came out really excellent. The central figure is sharp and seems to stand out among the two in the back. Plain and more rich.

Here is a picture of what one of the walls of the hall looked like.

Lightning Over Downtown New Braunfels, Texas

Lightning Downtown New Braunfels

This post is dedicated to all my fellow Texas brothers who are getting soaked by these never ending monsoons that have been drenching us in rain for the last month. Seems like its been raining for 3 months straight.

Despite the wet weather which I am usually a fan of, its made some interesting photo opportunities. This shot was a very lucky one. Its really quite hard to shot lightning in the day. Everything usually comes out overexposed and one big white photo with no detail. This shot was taken with a 1/60 shutter speed and maybe f/8 aperture. Not sure? But I was really thrilled when I opened it up in Photoshop. It wasn't overexposed, and it wasn't blurry. Using the tripod paid off.

Love that Unibrow, Bevin!

Unibrow!

Thought this came out really interesting, hope you agree. One my favorite portraits from a recent trip. That is SOME mega unibrow action going. Luckily it washes off, hopefully.

For those fans, another famous well known unibrow/monobrow from someone who knew how to sport it properly. :-)

Follow The Winding River Flowing Through Georgia

River in Blue Ridge Mountains of Georgia

Liked how this picture turned out. What a beautiful and serene river! I just wanted to jump into one of those puddles and let time slowly creep by without a care or worry. This was taken near Jasper, Georgia in the "big" hills/mountains of the surrounding area.

Magical Bus Stop In The Woods of Georgia

How is this for odd? On a recent trip to Jasper, Georgia, some friends and I went hiking in the woods and found this Bus Stop right in the middle of the path. No roads, or indication a bus ever stopped here. So why did someone put a bus stop pole in the middle of the woods?
