Architecture

Took these from a high rise in downtown Manhattan, using various f-stops to gather as much light and color as possible. These were the some of the best ones out of lot.
North Dakota Morning
Took this near the border of North Dakota and South Dakota very early in the morning around 6am. We had been on the road for about 20 hrs straight and I was itching to get out and do something other than drive, even it was for a few minutes. There was not a whole lot to shot in this part of North Dakota, except miles and miles of rolling fields of grass and sunflowers, but this neat little lake presented a good oppourtunity to catch some reflections.

Here are some interesting shots I took while in NYC. They are essentially eye-candy all the way, and are some of my favorite types of photos to be creative with, because everytime you do a shot like this, it is never the same. Plus over the years I have gotten down various methods of my own in order to reproduce these in any situation. The basic trick is getting down the amount of light allowed to enter the camera, as you move the zoom lenses in whatever direction towards a set point. The other part if keeping the set focus point as stable as possible as you move the camera slightly and zoom in to the subject in or out. The results are usually pretty interesting, and if you practive enough the shots start to get easier. They photos where shot with a Canon EOS Digital Rebel, and I never had more fun with a digital camera till I got my hands on one of these. Hopefully one day I will be able to own one of these beauties.

Acacia

Wow, these two shots are my favorite. The first one looks great in print, and gives me the feeling like I am seeing all this through a window. Its definately an awesome shot. The second photo is inspiring too, and it kinda follows the example of some of my other work in terms of style. I might try to enhance this shot a little and play with the colors.
Weathered and Rusted

I can't get over the colors of paint coming from these photos. This is actually a picture of a old truck side that has been outside for about 20 years at the ranch. They make fun backgrounds, and someone said they could see Jesus in the rust square of one shot. Quick someone call KENS-5, I think I see it too! lol
Pond Reflection

-

My friend Megan loves both of these shots. I have to agree. I shot these near Houston Texas, on the Attwater Preserve on a very cloudy day. There was nothing in this one grass field except this nasty green pond, but with the right light and some creatively I pulled off an interesting picture.
Through the Rail
I really like this photo I took while on the beach. It took me about 30 minutes to line this shot up right, so that the guy in the water and the rail where just at the right place. I then laid my head of the chair while pressing the camera to my face to get a solid shot.

Past Photos

This are some shots that have been in a pile on my desk or shelves from last year or before that. I like some of these for their odd way to make me look at them over and over. And were for the most part the most interesting things I could find to shot where ever I was.
Acacia Blooms
This plant was fun to photograph, except for the all thorns it had. I had to crawl under the bush to get some closer shots with the sky, while trying not to rip my clothes apart. But everything has thorns in South Texas! I am still not positive on what type of bush this is, but I imagine its somewhere in the Acacia family. Oh and the smell of the flowers (yellow balls) made it well worth all the time spent, it had such a great sweet smell. I like to many of these photos so I will post them in sections.

Blog is up!
I am glad to say I could do this little project of getting this blog up in an afternoon. I succeeded! I am not a whiz kid at installing these types of applications so I am glad my geek came though this time. lol. Now the only problem I am having is getting the thumbnails to work, but the check program is telling me its not installed even though the hosting company says it is. So I decided to forget it for now, the pictures are better in large scale anyway. I shall be posting some pictures shortly.
