Colorado Mountain Sunset in Buena Vista, Colorado

How much foreground is too much?

Alright, had a very hard time deciding on which image of this Colorado sunset to pick. The main problem was deciding how much foreground to include in the picture? I was torn between the two photos below. You will notice one has more foreground of the water on the lake. Which is also more calm creating a better reflection. The other image has less foreground and more sky (background). The sky in this case is a bit more dramatic and beautiful. However I liked the symmetry of the first photo with more foreground because it split the photo in 50/50 sections. Which one do you like?

Definately like the full sky - great colours. I like the choice in lens as well. ually my rule is either completely balanced or the extreme, not in between. Also depends ding on what you want to capture.

Even though the last photo doesn't follow the rule of thirds, I like it because all of the distracting dark tones have been removed. Nice exercise, I've got some too on my blog.
